Deja Vu When George Thorogood & 38 Special Return To Artpark
7/1/2025 - Lewiston, New York - It's another beautiful Summer Tuesday in Western New York and today, I headed to Lewiston, New York to catch a double dose of classic rock from George Thorogood & the Destroyers and 38 Special at Artpark's Outdoor stage. It was deja vu all over again as I saw this exact same lineup perform at Artpark almost 8 years ago. Today, it was a hot day, and I arrived pretty early to small lines that grew quickly awaiting for the doors to open. I managed to get my normal spot just behind the premier seating left stage. The opener was 38 Special, with only original member Don Barnes on lead guitar and vocals, winging thru a very good set of thier classics. The set included Wild-Eyed Southern Boys, If I'd Been The One, Fantasy Girl and closing the set with Caught Up In You. They came out for not one but two separate one song encores, first was Chain Ligtnin' and the second show closer was Hold On Loosely. The band made up of Bobby Capps (keyboards, vocals), Gary Moffatt (drums), Barry Dunaway (bass), and Jerry Riggs (guitar) were pretty tight on this evening and the quickly filled in Artpark crowd enjoyed them. After the brief intermission George Thorogood & The Destroyers hit the stage and did their typical set. The band included Buddy Leach on sax, original Destroyer Jeff Simon on drums, Bill Blough on bass, Jim Suhler on guitar and 75 year old lead man George. They played their classics like I Drink Alone, Bad To The Bone, Cocaine Blues and a crowd pleasing One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer. They closed the set with the classic Who Do You Love? and came out for one encore of Born To Be Bad. A good show that really does not get old for me and gets me nostalgic every time. See you next year George or maybe 8 years from now.Slideshow[]
Fogerty & Thorogood Rock Excellent Freebie Show At CMAC
Bills Make Trip Worthwhile With Shutout Win Over Dolphins
6/11/2024 - Canandaigua, New York - We headed south down NY Route 332 today into the lovely city of Canandaigua, New York to CMAC for an excellent freebie concert compliments of Deb the Contest Queen. Tonights show would be a double shot of classic rock featuring John Fogerty and George Thorogood & The Destroyers. Our seats were far back and right stage but still decent and they were free. The show was pretty full but not quite a sellout. The opening band was a band called Hearty Har. It was made up of John Fogerty's two sons Shane and Tyler and they did a short set of what could best be described as modern psychedelic garage rock. After a short intermission, George Thorogood & The Destroyers hit the stage and played a typical short set. They did some popular stuff and some classic stuff like Who Do You Love?, One Bourbon, One Scotch and One Beer and good jam on Cocaine Blues. George and the band are celebrating 50 years and still continue to entertain. They closed their short set with Bad To The Bone. After another short intermission, John Fogerty, hit the stage and played a set of classic CCR stuff as part of his John Fogerty: The Celebration Tour. Fogerty is celebrating the end of a 55 year battle to have ownership of his music and now he finally owns it. The 79 year old hit the stage and proudly annouced, It took 55 years but I now own all my songs and I’m going to play ‘em all for you. He had great energy and good vocals and he played tons of classics like Bad Moon Rising, Green River and Down On The Corner. He definitely appeared to be enjoying the moment playing his songs with his sons. He finished the set with Fortunate Son and then came out for a two song encore that included Hey Tonight/Travelin Band and closing the show with Proud Mary. Another good show at CMAC and it was another freebie, thanks Deb.Slideshow[]
9/19/2021 - Miami Gardens, Florida - The day started with a nice sunrise walk on the private Fort Lauderdale beach at our resort the gorgeous Lago Mar Resort. We enjoyed a nice family breakfast at the resort getting ready to head to Hard Rock Stadium to watch the Buffalo Bills take on the Miami Dolphins. We left at what we thought was early enough but we ran into issues finding parking but finally we were directed to a field across from the stadium, a long walk. It was a very hot day and rain was almost a certainty. We headed into the stadium to our seats in the corner of the end zone at club level that were fortunately under the over hangs and provided courtesy of Nicole as a fathers day gift ! It was the Dolphins home opener and that included rolling out the big flag across the field, a nice rendition of the National Anthem from Darius Rucker and then a jet flyover that really gets me every time. I love the jet flyovers after the Anthem. The game opened with the Bills knocking out the Dolphins starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. The Bills dominated play winning a blowout 35-0 to the delight of a large contingent of Bills fans who stayed to the end to celebrate their team. The rains during the game made getting out the field parking lots difficult and included pushing people out of the mud and crazy fans trying to break tables post game. A great time was had.Slideshow[]

8/8/2021 - Sodus Point, New York - Today, we decided to extend the Deb birthday celebration by driving East down Route 104 to Sodus Point, New York and renting a boat from Krenzer Marine. We arrived midday to Sodus and the rental process was easy and painless. We hopped on a beautiful almost new South Bay pontoon boat and headed out to Lake Ontario to the gorgeous Chimney Bluffs State Park. We parked the boat just off the bluffs taking in the nice views with drinks, snacks and some swimming. Our worries of the possibility of severe rains quickly went away as we enjoyed an almost perfect day on the water. We then cruised the lake a bit with views of the Sodus Lighthouse Museum and the Sodus Point Sodus Bay Lighthouse. We then headed into Sodua Bay and cruised a bit taking in the views of the nice properties along the bay. After docking the boat we decided to have dinner at Six50 On The Bay right on Sodus Bay. 8/29/2018 - Canandaigua, New York - Today, we were celebrating our 26th wedding anniversary with Deb's favorite band Earth, Wind & Fire at the rain soaked Constellation Brands Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center in Canandaigua, New York. We left early and had a nice surf and turf dinner at Outback Steakhouse. We then headed to the show stopping at Finger Lakes Racetrack & Casino for a little pre-concert gaming action. When we arrived at CMAC, the sky opened up and it poured rain with massive thunder and lightning causing the concert to be delayed almost 45 minutes. The storm let up and they let people in the venue, our seats were excellent fourth row center stage. The band came out and did their typical good set. They did all the favorites including Sing A Song, Shining Star, Boogie Wonderland and closing the set with September. They came out and did one encore In The Stone. A great anniversary show that almost didn't happen.Slideshow[]
Steve Miller Band & Peter Frampton Jam Artpark
Burton Cummings and April Wine Close Out Artpark 2016 Season
7/3/2018 - Lewiston, New York - It's Tuesday In July and that means another classic rock show at Artpark's Tuesday In The Park Concert Series in Lewiston, New York. We hopped in the car and headed West early on this hot July day to see a double dose of excellent classic rock featuring Peter Frampton and the Steve Miller Band. We arrived early and encountered large lines but managed to get are usual spot, the show was completely sold out. Peter Frampton came out first and played a great set. It included great takes on Lines On My Face, Show Me The Way and an excellent cover of Soundgarden's Black Hole Sun. During the set Peter provided plenty of stories including going to the Bahamas to record an album but instead hanging with Alvin Lee partying for two weeks until finally writing the great Frampton album in eight days. He also told the tale of recovering his guitar from Humble Pie 30 years later after assuming it was lost in a cargo plane crash. The band sounded excellent and they finished with Do You Feel Like We Do. After a short break Steve Miller and his band hit the stage and did as many hits as they could fit in their set. They opened with The Stake and played other classics like True Fine Love, Take The Money and Run and I Want To Make The World Turnaround to name a few. It also included Peter Frampton coming out and joining Steve for a couple blues tunes, including Freddie King's Same Old Blues and Elmore James' Stranger Blues. Steve and his band came out for two encores first Fly Like An Eagle and closing out the show with Jet Airliner. An excellent show that had one of the largest crowds I have ever seen at Artpark, keep the good acts coming.Slideshow[]
8/30/2016 - Lewiston, New York - Today we headed back to that favorite summer concert spot Artpark in Lewiston, New York to see the final Tuesday In The Park Concert of 2016, tonight a double dose of awesome Canadian rock with April Wine and Burton Cummings. We arrived early to this show and got in a close spot of the massive line that formed to get in for this show. Not sure but based on the crowd it must have been sellout show. The show was billed as the Canadian Hall of Fame Show that also included folk artist Buffy Sainte-Marie who opened the show. She was not really a good fit for this show. April Wine followed after her and played a good condensed set that included their hits like I Like To Rock, Roller and a nice cover of King Crimson's 21st Century Schizoid Man. After a brief intermission Burton Cummings and his band came out and played a fantastic but short set. He played classic after classic including Stand Tall, No Sugar Tonight, Laughing and closing with No Time which was appropriate for his condensed set to meet the time rule at Artpark. They did a good cover of Richard Bery's Louie Louie. He came out for one encore of Share The Land. A great closing show for the 2016 season that could have been better had time allowed, thanks for another good season of classics Artpark see you next year.Slideshow[]

9/2/2010 - Farmington, New York - Today the Florio's went to Finger Lakes Racetrack for the seventh annual outing, although a little late in the year, for some horse racing action. It was a very nice September day and everyone managed to pick at least one winner or two in the first few races. In the later races no one could hit anything. Dad took a quick jaunt to the casino and won some nice coin on the Video Poker machines to make a pretty nice profit for the day. The day included a trip to Eastview Mall for some shopping and a nice dinner out. A nice day enjoyed by all.Slideshow[]

We then walked thru downtown Toronto encountering a black squirell and stopping at Gretzkys Restaurant wearing our Sabres gear entering into a sea of red and white team Canada jerseys, just prior to the Olympic game between team USA vs Canada. After that a quick Pizza Pizza dinner with an excellent view of the CN Tower and finally off to Air Canada Centre to take in the Clapton Beck show. 4/15/2008 - Oahu, Hawaii - The first part of the Hawaii trip ended leaving our condo at Kaanapali Shores in Maui the same way we started with a rainbow. We grabbed our last views of the beach and Lahaina and caught a flight via Hawaiian Airlines where we encountered a clown going through security fortunately he was not on our flight. The flight lasted all of ten minutes from Maui to Oahu. We started are adventure at Oahu, heading to our junior suite at Resort Quest Waikiki Beach Hotel. It provided nice views of Diamond Head Crater, Waikiki Beach and the Pacific Ocean. We spent our first days on Oahu swimming on Waikiki Beach and the ocean front pool, climbing to the top of Diamond Head Crater for spectacular views of Oahu, Honolulu and Waikiki Beach, and enjoying the evening entertainment of street performers and shopping along Kalakaua Avenue. Dom had his portrait done by Maurice the Painter and Nicole cruised the highend shops hitting all the stores on a really long list. More Oahu to come. Part 124567Slideshow[]
Spooktacular Halloween Had By Dom And Nicole
10/31/2006 - Hilton, NY - The Halloween holiday has become a large event at the Florio household. This year was highlighted by excessive Halloween decorations, a Halloween party for Dom and a bunch of his pals, a trip to Nigtmare Manor haunted house in Henrietta and lots and lots of trick or treating. Dom and friends had a party at the house followed by a trip to the haunted house around the corner which was bigger and better than last year. Aunt Suzi and Uncle Mark came dressed in full SCARY witch and zombie costumes. Dom was the Grim Reaper and Nicole was a princess not a big stretch for her. The weather was perfect for trick or treating and the kids hauled in tons of candy.Slideshow[]
