 10/11/2024 - Los Angekes, California - Today, we had a full free day to explore the Los Angeles area a bit. We started the day grabbing breakfast at our hotel the Hilton Garden Inn LA/Hollywood, nice custom omlettes. We decided to hit some of the coast on this overcast day. The first stop on our tour was the Santa Monica Pier where we walked the pier and checked out the beach. We then headed a couple miles down from Santa Monica Pier to hit Venice Beach. There we saw the infamous Venice Muscle Beach, watched some pretty good skateboarders and walked the boardwalk. Lots of characters at Venice Beach. After Venice Beach, we contemplated going to Dodger Stadium for the game 5 playoff game but decided the cost was too much and decided to go to the Griffith Observatory on the south side of Mount Hollywood. We zig zagged thru the city of Los Angeles letting the GPS save us minutes getting us to Griffith Park and up to the Observatory where we lucked out and got a decent parking spot and free parking. We climbed part way up Mount Hollywood to the observatory for excellent panoramic views of the city of Los Angeles. We also had great views of the Hollywood Sign. We left the observatory and finished the day getting a late dinner at In-N-Out Burger on Sunset Boulevard in downtown LA. A good day seeing the sites in LA, tomorrow Clapton at the Hollywood Bowl.Slideshow |
