Bush, Cantrell & Candlebox Rock Soldout Artpark Amphitheater |

8/17/2024 - Lewiston, New York - In a last minute decision, I decided to hop in the car and head West down Route 18 to Artpark in Lewiston, New York to see not the headliner Bush, but Jerry Cantrell from Alice in Chains perform. I grabbed a last minute ticket and actually payed a little extra as the show was soldout. I headed out early and stopped on the way in Olcott to catch up with some fellow class of 83 classmates having a small gathering. Good to see old faces you have not seen in a long while. It was raining on the way to the show but the weather would hold off on this night for a good night of music. I managed to get a decent spot but no chairs were allowed on this night and the opening band was a surprise from the UK the Bones UK. I recognized them right away, Rosie Oddie and Carmen Vandenberg, who made an album with and toured with Jeff Beck. We saw them on that tour at CMAC. Pretty much same act as they had before and they thanked the crowd that was filling in for playing here. After a short intemission the next band, Candlebox, hit the stage and played a really good set. The lead singer, Kevin Martin, complained his setup was a mess but they sounded good and had good energy and played classics like Far Behind and You. The next band was my headliner it was Jerry Cantrell and his band and they played a really good set that had plenty of Alice In Chains covers. It included nice jams on Rooster, Them Bones and Man In The Box. Cantrell and his band were pretty tight and they were worth the trip. The crowds were all standing and condensing towards the stage when Bush came on. I only listened to the first half of their set that sounded okay but just was not into it.
