6/11/2024 - Canandaigua, New York - We headed south down NY Route 332 today into the lovely city of Canandaigua, New York to CMAC for an excellent freebie concert compliments of Deb the Contest Queen. Tonights show would be a double shot of classic rock featuring John Fogerty and George Thorogood & The Destroyers. Our seats were far back and right stage but still decent and they were free. The show was pretty full but not quite a sellout. The opening band was a band called Hearty Har. It was made up of John Fogerty's two sons Shane and Tyler and they did a short set of what could best be described as modern psychedelic garage rock. After a short intermission, George Thorogood & The Destroyers hit the stage and played a typical short set. They did some popular stuff and some classic stuff like Who Do You Love?, One Bourbon, One Scotch and One Beer and good jam on Cocaine Blues. George and the band are celebrating 50 years and still continue to entertain. They closed their short set with Bad To The Bone. After another short intermission, John Fogerty, hit the stage and played a set of classic CCR stuff as part of his John Fogerty: The Celebration Tour. Fogerty is celebrating the end of a 55 year battle to have ownership of his music and now he finally owns it. The 79 year old hit the stage and proudly annouced, It took 55 years but I now own all my songs and I’m going to play ‘em all for you. He had great energy and good vocals and he played tons of classics like Bad Moon Rising, Green River and Down On The Corner. He definitely appeared to be enjoying the moment playing his songs with his sons. He finished the set with Fortunate Son and then came out for a two song encore that included Hey Tonight/Travelin Band and closing the show with Proud Mary. Another good show at CMAC and it was another freebie, thanks Deb. Slideshow |
