London Rocks With Clapton's Last Royal Albert Hall Show

5/23/2015 - London, England - Another day in London and another day of sites and another awesome concert this third show being the final show of seven for Slowhand, Eric Clapton, at the infamous Royal Albert Hall. The day started a little late today as we slept in because we apparently needed to. We made the daily stop to take in the excellent views of Big Ben and headed to the Tube. The first stop today was the mega department store Harrods. Here we walked thru the massive store and checked out a street band jamming right out front that were actually pretty good. We missed breakfast today due to the late start and stopped at The Bunch of Grapes pub for a tasty traditional English meal of fish and chips. We hopped on the Tube again and headed to our next destination Buckingham Palace and toured around the awesome palace and its grounds. We stopped briefly at our hotel and then headed to the main event, Eric Clapton's final show of seven nights at the famous Royal Albert Hall. We got there early so Mike could scalp a pricy but excellent ticket for the final show. We took some excellent pictures of the hall and the area around it including the The Royal College of Music and The Albert Memorial. We then headed into the venue and took in the many historical rock photos that line the halls of the venue showing some of its massive history. The show started promptly at 8PM again as the last show did with Andy Fairweather Low opening. He did an okay set that was well received by the sellout Royal Albert Hall crowd. Soon after Clapton hit the stage and played an excellent set. He played a similar set to the show we saw on Thursday playing an electric and acoustic set. He played classic tunes like Tears In Heaven, Wonderful Tonight and a nice jam on I Shot The Sheriff to name a few. He played a nice acoustic version of Rock Me Baby in honor of BB King who passed away the prior week. Again this concert was just fantastic seeing Slowhand playing in one of the most awesome venues in the world, a definite bucket list item checked off. We hopped on the Tube back to the hotel and caught some glimpses of the latest James Bond film being shot right in front of our hotel. This was another great day in London town with one more day left and one more awesome show the finale being Sir Paul at the O2 to finish it off ! 1 2 3 5 Slideshow
