 4/7/2013 - Maui, Hawaii - Today was our last day on Maui and it started with the final early morning beach walk. We packed up our stuff and toured the Kaanapali Shores grounds one more time before checkout saying goodbye to our scenic views of Maui and taking a few final pictures. We drove to Lahaina and had lunch at one of our new favorite little places Jay's Place. We then hopped back in the car and headed across the island and decided to take a ride up to the top of Mount Haleakala. On our journey up to the peak we saw cows just grazing at about 7000 feet, kind of odd to see. Although it appeared to be cloud covered when we reached Leleiwi Lookout it was a crystal clear view. Absolutely gorgeous views there and at the peak at 10000 feet including above the cloud views. Glad we made the trip the views were worth the drive. We drove down from Haleakala thru the hippie town of Paia and stopping finally at Hookipa Beach to watch some world class windsurfers. We headed back to Kahului and had an late dinner at one of our favorite burger joints Ruby's Diner. We headed back to Kahalui Airport to catch our flight back home from Maui to Los Angeles to Chicago to Buffalo. A very loooong flight which included delays to Chicago and Buffalo making it even longer. A very sad Aloha to Maui until the NEXT TIME..... 1 2 3 4 Slideshow |
