Relaxing In Maui With Whales, Sharks and Beaches - Part II

4/2/2013 - Maui, Hawaii - The Maui adventure continued today in typical fashion with another perfect day which started with the relaxing daily early morning beach walk. The walk included not only gorgeous island views of Molakai and Lanai but also several humpbacks active just off shore. We headed to Lahaina for the first of our annual whale watch expeditions with the Pacific Whale Foundation on their boat Ocean Liberty. Again it did not take long for us to encounter many whales as soon as we left the Lahaina harbor. We had a great time on this watch as usual which provided us with plenty of tails and closeup views of humpback whales that came right up to the boat and gorgeous panoramic views of the island of Maui. Still my personal favorite thing to do in Maui. After the watch we enjoyed a nice lunch in Lahaina at a nice little place called Jay's Place then back to the condo for sunning, swimming and drinking by the ocean front pool at Kaanapali Shores. We were shocked to find out that someone was attacked by a shark in front of our condo, the beach was closed for a day and Maui officials combed the beach and water in front of our condo. We enjoyed another nice Maui sunset and then headed back to Lahaina for a nice dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. After dinner Dom and Dad played some late night tennis on the Kaanapali Shore courts. More Maui to come. 1 3 4 5 Slideshow
