Exploration Of The Island Of Kauai Begins - Part IV

4/23/2009 - Kauai, Hawaii - The exploration of the island of Kauai continued with a drive to Wailua, East Kauai to view the 'Opaeka'a Falls. We then headed down south thru the Tree Tunnel to the Po'ipu area to view Spouting Horn blowhole, then hung out for a little relaxation on Po'ipu Beach. We then continued westward to the town of Waimea to Waimea Canyon Lookout. The views on the drive up to 3400 feet above sea level were nice but unfortanately at the lookout to the canyon it was completely blocked out due to cloud cover zero visibility. We headed back to Kapa'a for dinner at the Lemon Grass Grill where we enjoyed delicious steaks and seafood. We spent time back at the condo for more relaxation and just chillin by the awesome pool. Up early in the morning and down to the beach to watch the sun come up from the Pacific very nice, then back to the condo for a delicious breakfast prepared by Deb and eaten on the lanai of the condo looking out over the pool and ocean a great start to our days. We headed back up north to Princeville to hike to Queens Bath where we encountered many sea turtles swimming in the ocean. The ocean was rough making Queens Bath most definitely NOT swimmable. We then continued to drive across the north end of island west to Ke'e Beach where we saw a Hawaiian Monk Seal resting on the beach. Finally back to Lauren's namesake Hanalei Bay. A beautiful peaceful place surrounded by mountains and providing gorgeous sunsets that locals and tourists actually tailgate for. Nicole and Dom took a little swim down by the pier in Hanalei Bay and we stayed and watched another excellent sunset. Part 1 2 3 5Slideshow
